The war between Take-Two Interactive and those responsible for the recent GTA 6 leaks has just escalated. The company behind Rockstar Games filed several subpoenas in a U.S. federal court to try and discover who is behind the accounts related to Cyberleek, the name that has appeared linked to the publication of unauthorized material from the anticipated game.
The investigation is no longer limited to removing videos from the internet. Now Take-Two wants to identify the people who are behind the leaks.
Take-Two requests information from Microsoft and Discord
According to documents filed in the Southern District of New York Court, Take-Two requested information from Microsoft and Discord related to different accounts and communities that might have a connection with Cyberleek.
The request includes account data, emails, phone numbers, IP addresses, connections to other services, and even certain device identifiers.
In Microsoft's case, Take-Two is also seeking records related to a possible internal investigation into Cyberleek's identity, as well as information linked to services such as OneDrive and Xbox.
The company states that the objective of these requests is to obtain the identity of the alleged infringer and protect its copyrights.
Who is behind Cyberleek?
For now, that is precisely the big unknown.
Cyberleek has used different accounts and communities to distribute material related to GTA 6, and Take-Two is trying to connect these digital identities with real people.
One of the servers mentioned in the judicial documentation is related to DarkViperAU, a well-known GTA content creator. His name appears in the documents, although Matthew "Matt" Judge himself stated that he has no information about the leaks and is confused by the inclusion of his servers in the investigation.
This does not mean that Judge is accused of participating in the leaks. His appearance simply forms part of the accounts and communities that Take-Two wants to investigate.

The leaks are still ongoing
The problem for Rockstar is that, while Take-Two tries to identify those responsible, new GTA 6 videos continue to appear on the internet.
Some of the clips show alleged gameplay scenes that have not yet been officially released. One of the recent videos even shows Jason piloting a small plane over Vice City, giving players an idea of the size and level of detail of the open world.
Rockstar has not yet publicly confirmed the authenticity of these materials.
Everything happens before the next big reveal
The situation comes at a rather delicate time for Rockstar.
On August 27, the company plans to present Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, a new preview that will premiere first on Netflix and later be available on other platforms.
In other words, Rockstar is about to officially reveal more information about GTA 6 while trying to control a leak that has been circulating on the internet for several days.
For now, no one has publicly confirmed who is behind Cyberleek. But with Take-Two resorting to the courts and requesting information from tech giants, the search for the leaker has just entered a much more serious stage.
And now a question remains:
