Although The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was originally released in 2015, the universe of the famous RPG still has a lot to offer. CD Projekt RED is already working on a new official expansion called Songs of the Past, but now another project has been revealed that also seeks to expand the game experience.
It is Revenge of Ofir, a campaign developed by a team of fans that aims to offer a new adventure for players of The Witcher 3.
Songs of the Past will be the new official expansion
The big news for followers of Geralt of Rivia is Songs of the Past, an expansion developed by CD Projekt RED in collaboration with Fool's Theory.
The content will once again put players in control of Geralt and is scheduled for 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
CD Projekt RED has explained that it is a full expansion and not just a small additional content. The company aims to offer an adventure with a similar scale to what players previously encountered in its large expansions.
But it won't be the only new adventure
While the developers are working on Songs of the Past, a group of fans has announced Revenge of Ofir, an unofficial campaign based on The Witcher 3 universe.
The project seeks to further expand the possibilities of the RPG and demonstrates that the community continues to create content for a game that, despite being more than a decade old, maintains a huge number of followers.
It is important to clarify that Revenge of Ofir is not an official CD Projekt RED project.
Mods keep The Witcher 3 alive
The modding community has played a fundamental role in keeping The Witcher 3 relevant.
The arrival of tools like REDkit has allowed for the creation of new experiences, modification of game elements, and development of much more ambitious projects than traditional mods.
In fact, there are currently fan projects that seek to recover content that was eliminated during the original development of the game. One of them is The WAR Project, which aims to reconstruct a large questline that was discarded before release and aspires to become an experience of more than 10 hours.
Geralt still has a new adventure ahead of him
The arrival of Songs of the Past is especially interesting because it will allow players to once again control Geralt of Rivia.
CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the expansion will be a new adventure starring the famous witcher and that it will arrive before the saga moves on to its next major stage with The Witcher 4, where Ciri will play a leading role.
The company has also confirmed that it will offer new details about Songs of the Past during the summer of 2026, including a presentation during Gamescom.
A game that refuses to disappear
Few video games can boast of still generating so much content more than ten years after their release.
The Witcher 3 has sold over 65 million copies and continues to be one of the most influential RPGs of the last decade.
Now, between CD Projekt RED's official expansion and the projects developed by its community, everything seems to indicate that there is still much to discover in Geralt's world.
